Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the procedure of inserting and manipulating needles into various points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic purposes. The earliest written record of acupuncture is the Chinese text Shiji (史記, English: Records of the Grand Historian) with elaboration of its history in the second century BCE medical text Huangdi Neijing (黃帝內經, English: Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon). Different variations of acupuncture are practiced and taught throughout the world.

Acupuncture has been the subject of active scientific research both in regard to its basis and therapeutic effectiveness since the late 20th century, but it remains controversial among medical researchers and clinicians. Research on acupuncture points and meridians is preliminary and has not conclusively demonstrated their existence or properties. Clinical assessment of acupuncture treatments, due to its invasive and easily detected nature, makes it difficult to use proper scientific controls for placebo effects.

A Non-Wikipedia Definition

The insertion of fine/thin needles into the meridian points (gateways) of the body that correspond with a practitioner's diagnosis of the location of a patient's illness or pain. The needle insertion into the prescribed points helps alter energy stagnated at the prescribed acupoints and stimulates the acupoints to begin normal adjusted flow of life energy (Chi) to the areas where the pain or illness was originating from.

The process of acupuncture acupoint stimulation is to help restore normal balance and flow of the human life energy (Chi) and revitalize the body to repair itself and maintain its health.

Traditional acupuncture dates back over 3000 years and has been used as a part of the primary health care services offered in China.

The Main Objectives of Acupuncture:

1. Readjust the human body assisting in the healing process for internal medicine, OBGYN, and other varying diseases and illnesses.
2. Relieve pain and other related symptoms.
3. Strengthen the human body immune system. Revitalize, balance and then harmonize the functions of our body organs with each other.
