Resource Center - Theatre

Theatre (or theater, see spelling differences) is the branch of the performing arts defined by Bernard Beckerman as what "occurs when one or more persons, isolated in time and/or space, present themselves to another or others." By this broad definition, theatre has existed since the dawn of man, as a result of human tendency for story telling. Since its inception, theatre has come to take on many forms, often utilizing elements such as speech, gesture, music, dance, and spectacle, combining the other performing arts, often as well as the visual arts, into a single artistic form.

The word derives from the Ancient Greek theatron (θέατρον), meaning "the seeing place".

New boundaries along the edge of human experience are constantly redrawn through the endeavors of our visionary artists, extraordinary musicians, dancers and performers, authors, poets and stage/film actors, directors and producers.

Whereas their purpose is to create and push the edge, ours is to encourage and support an enlightened global culture of free expression in the arts, music, dance and theatre.

Whereas the traditional culture of tribes and nations are expressed in the community and political realms, the visionary culture of arts, music, dance and theatre is expressed through live events, festivals and theatre, conscious media, film and books. Also emerging are the cultures of sustainability, consciousness, freedom and sovereignty.
