History is the study of the past, particularly the written record of the human race, but more generally including scientific and archaeological discoveries about the past. Recently, there has been an increased interest in oral histories and traditions, passed down from generation to generation verbally. New technology, such as photography, sound recording, and motion pictures, now complement the written word in the historical record.

Academically, history is the field of research producing a continuous narrative and a systematic analysis of past events of importance to the human race. Those who study history as a profession are called historians.

Vision Statement and Purpose:

History and "Herstory" does not repeat itself, but ignorance of our ancestral story does. If we do not learn from both our "history" and "herstory" we are condemned to repeat this until we learn the lessons of time. May we not repeat the mistakes of the past. If you don't like history as its told, go out and make some of your own!

Our story reveals the mindset of our ancestors and teaches us universal principles. All sides of our ancestral and immortal story must be considered, both the written and the unwritten word, gestures and the entire dance of humanity throughout time.

Let us respect the stories of what came before. Let us pay honor to all our great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers, our parents, our founding fathers and mothers, men and women from all the ages who have passed their wisdom down to us.

Textbook history is written by the victors in war, thus always one-sided, biased and prejudiced. Be aware each generation in power rewrites history with their own pen to favor their own political position.

In the infamous words of George Orwell, "Those who controls the past, controls the future."
